Q. What is the elevation at Montebello?
A. The area ranges from 2,700 feet at our campground to over 4,000 feet on adjacent trails.

Q. Can you get cell phone service at your campground?
A. No, we are located in a remote area of Nelson County. Cell service is accessible 2.5 miles from our campground at the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance.  Phone service is available in our Country Store during business hours.

Q. Do you have WI-FI, cable TV or satellite service?
A. These services aren't available in our campground.  Four of our full service cabins have satellite TV service.

Q. What is the largest RV you can accommodate?
A. 40 ft is the largest RV we can accommodate.

Q. What is the best way to get to Montebello?
A. If you are traveling with a large camper or RV, we recommend traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and exiting at the Route 56E exit.  The campground is just 2.5 miles away.  Route 56E and 56W is a fairly curvy and steep road.

Q. How far away is the closest large grocery store?
A. About 25 - 30 miles.

Q. How much does it cost to fish in the Fee Based Trout Ponds?
A. There is no charge for fishing in the Trout Pond, but you have to keep what you catch.  The Rainbow Trout are sold by the pound.  There is no charge for fishing for bass, catfish, bluegill and trout in our four acre campground lake if you are guests of our resort.

Q. Do the campsites have a fire ring?
A. Yes, each site has a campfire ring and a picnic table.

Q. Does your Country Store carry groceries?
A. Yes, our store carries a full line of groceries. However, we do not carry fresh meat, produce or alcohol. We also sell camping and fishing supplies, gas, ice, firewood and many gift items.

Q. What are the average day/night temperatures?
A. Well, it can vary.  Summer months average 75 for highs and 55 for lows.  Winter months average 45 for highs and 25 for lows.  However, we have seen it reach 90 in the peak summer months and then snow in April so ya never know up here on the mountain.

Q. Do you have 50 amp service?
A. Yes, we have a select number of sites with 50 amp service.

Q. Do you allow pets?
A. Yes, we allow pets in the campground.  They must be kept on a leash at all times and cleaned up after.  We allow pets in 2 of our cabins, the Lakeview Cabin and the Mt. View Cabin B.  A $25 non refundable pet deposit is required with these cabin rentals.

Q. Can we bring our own firewood?

A. The transport of firewood is a primary cause for the spread of certain harmful pests. That's why we recommend that you not bring your own firewood to the campground. Please visit Don't Move Firewood for details on the threats of moving firewood. We encourage you to buy it at or near the park and be sure to burn all the wood before leaving.  Quarantines have been issued by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to restrict the movement of firewood from pest-affected counties.  There are also federal quarantines in Virginia for three insect pests. Visit the USDA's Hungry Pests web page for details.  Thanks for your cooperation in keeping our trees safe!
